Setting Goals

One of my academic goals is to cut down my excesive talking, because it is giving me a hard time on my citizenship grade. A way that I plan to achieve this goal is by sitting far away from my friends and also by sitting in the front.

My second thing I want to achieve is getting to school on time and making sure that I get all my missing assignments. A way I plan to achieve my goal of getting to school on time is by waking up early, and my mom agreed to wake me up like she use to, like when I was younger.

One social/ personal goal that I plaan to achieve in the next 10 weeks is to spend more time playing with my son at home, and reading more books because it seems to work.

From my last report card and my blog what I said that I planned to achieve was to be in school on time and I did'nt get that done.

Where in the World?

1. Kenya
2. S.E.
3. Right on the Equator
4. Africa
5. Nairobi
6. China and Australia
7. The reason why I would love to visit Kenya is because I love animals and the wild life. From research that I have done in Kenya you will never never be bored, Kenya has a lot of wild life safaris. Another reason why is that its very inexpensive tourist destination and they have such a beautiful tropical climate

2.I think what the African American veteran meant was the corruption that they are having with Vietnam is pointless because they are at war with the people that are living a better life than the U.S. When really we are at war with among us.
3.There are many issues going on now a days as there was on,in 1970,there was many racism involved and till this day we stand in a world full of hate and racism. One example is the law going on in Arizona, the SB1070.

Academic goals

1.Two academic goals for my next report card will be to be able to have more full credits and to be able to get most of my work done. I have been working hard to finish all my work to be able to complete all my courses.

2. One of my social goals is to be able to speak my mind out more and to be able to get along with just about anyone even though I already do. I really want to help out many students who need help on working on their blogs or anything that has to do with work, I also don't mind helping them emotionaly. I have a reason why I'm always nice to new girls is because I didn't really have any friends when I got to Lindsay. Except for my dear friend Wendy Arenas. :) How I will get my social goals done is to offer my help to the girls, thats how I will know I got my goal done, Another goal was that I wanted to lose weight and I did, I use to weight 192 know I weigh 176, and I got that done by excesising, and eating a good amount of healthy food.

3. I think I truly have succeeded in a lot of my goals. When I got to Lindsay, I planned to be a good student and to successful. I believe I'am a nice, inteligent, self respected girl, who also repects everyone else that surrounds me. I also have done excellent in getting all my work done and getting good grades, I'm not a bad student and I never back talk anyone. I love my teachers and I know, that they know, that I'm a good student and don't get involved in anything that will lead me to a path where I will not be successful.

Message to the Graduates

To all the hardworking mother's from Lindsay, I just want to say that I' am very excited to see that you have made it to success. Your achievement to termination is a very good example to me and many other teen moms who are on the path to the same success you have achieved. Your road to many other pathways have opened, you now have many opened doors. You are an achiever, succeeder, and a winner. Congratulations I acknowledge you all, I wish you all good fortune.

I feel that when that day arrives, I will be very emotional and happy, excited is what I feel. Just thinking about it gives me the butterflies. Graduating is a big goal in my life, I expect a lot from myself and will tend to achieve my dreams. I can't explain how I will do till that day, I just know I will get there and continue with my education.

The Kite Runner Questions

Who was your favorite character and why? Which character did you dislike most throughout the story and why? My favorite character was Hassan, because he was an important character in the book. Also because he was a strong character and went through a lot. He made my way of thinking while reading books change, made it seem interesting, made me keep going on with reading, He was a strong boy, who had it rough while growing up.

The character that I disliked the most was Assef. Assef was a self centered, selfish, heartless man, The reason why he was one of the characters that I disliked the most was because he rapped Hassan, and Hassan was just a young boy who he took advatage of.

Mammals? Captivity? I will be giving you three main reasons why mammals should not be kept in captivity. For one I think they are mistreated. I feel they should have the freedom to live in their real habitats. If they dont then later then put them in back, and die, because they no longer know how to live in the surreal life.My other reason why mammals should not be kept in captivity is because when they have babies at Sea World or other captivities they end up dying because they aren't able to suvive.Mammals should be let free in the wild, that way maybe we can visit them at the wild were we can really see their natural habitats.I dont think that mammals should be kept in cages for the rest of their lives. The only way I think mammals should be kept in captivity is only if they are endangered,or hurt.I think humans and mammals should have a equal balance of freedom!

Rihanna Speaks Out.

What I thought about what happened to Rihanna was she had a lot of shame, she was unsecure, and I thought it was really dumb how Chris Brown still wants to sit on national tv and say he wants to be with her and loves her, he has no shame.I'am really pissed off at this situation, I have nothing else to say.She desrves the best and she knows it.

Recipe Assignment

Original Wings.
2 lbs chicken wings (about 12 wings)
3 Tbsp butter, melted
4 Tbsp bottled hot pepper sauce (like Crystal or Frank's Original)
1 Tbsp paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

DoubleWings
4lbs wings (about 24 wings)
6 Tbsp butter, melted
2 Tbsppaprika
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2/4 teaspoon black pepper.

Half Of Original
1 lbs wings ( about 6 wings)
1.5 Tbsp butter, melted
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1/2 Tbsp bottled hot pepper sauce
1/2 Tbsp paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon black pepper

1.Cut off wing tips (discard or reserve for other use such as making stock). Cut wings at the joint. Put chicken wing pieces in a plastic bag. Set aside. Food safety note: when cutting raw chicken it is best to use a cutting board reserved just for cutting raw chicken. Wash thoroughly when finished. Do not let raw chicken juices come in contact with other food.

2. Create a marinade by stirring together the melted butter, hot pepper sauce, paprika, salt, cayenne pepper and black pepper. Pour all but 2 tablespoons of the marinade over the chicken pieces in the plastic bag. (Reserve marinade for coating after the pieces come out of the oven.) Seal bag and let marinate at room temperature for half an hour. When marinating is finished, drain marinade and discard bag.

3. Place wing pieces on the rack of a broiler pan. Broil 4 to 5 inches from the heat for about 10 minutes on each side, until chicken is tender and no longer pink. Remove from oven and baste with reserved marinade.
Serve with Blue Cheese Dip and celery sticks. Makes approximately 24 pieces (about 12 appetizer servings).
Blue cheese dip
Combine dip ingredients - sour cream, mayonnaise, blue cheese, vinegar, and garlic - in a blender or food processor. Blend or pulse until smooth. Cover and chill up to a week.

Music Therapy

September 22, 2009

Nancy Regin
7506 Woodridge Way
San Diego, CA 92114

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Nancy and my child’s name is Noah. I am writing to whomever this letter concerns because I am part of the Music Program at Lindsay Community School. Generally speaking, I believe music therapy is very important to mothers and their infants. For instance, many of us mothers enjoy having the privilege of seeing our children enjoy the music, and as a mother I enjoy seeing the mental growth of my child. I have only been in music therapy for about four months and I’ve seen my child learn many new things such as communication, language, thinking, walking and many little things that matter in my child’s future.

Therefore, when my child and I participate in music therapy I know my son feels the bond that I feel when we are singing and dancing and learning sign language, as well as new songs, I love how he’s in an active school at such a young age. He enjoys “The Shark Song” the most, he’s always trying to sing for every occasion. Just knowing how great this school makes him interact more with my family and me there’s no way I can miss a day of music therapy. My mother is very impressed by my child’s growth ever since he has been attending the nursery at Lindsay.

The music class has affected my child’s and my relationship, particularly in a way that he just loves interacting more at home. He interacts in a way that he has never done before I have just seen him grow so much ever since my child has been attending the nursery, he plays more with bigger toys, likes to sing and clap at home and lets me know with sign language what he wants. I am very impressed and I strongly suggest Lindsay keep the therapy classes for the children, there couldn’t had been a better place to start off for my child’s development.

Sincerely,

Nancy Regin
Teen Mother

Face poem

I am abitious and a superwoman

I wonder if my heart can take it?

I hear my heart beat,it slows down little by little

I see my drowning eyes under my layers on make up

I am ambitious and a superwoman

I pretend to to be superior

I feel angry inside

I touch my sons little feet in his sleep

I worry about his steps in life

I cry for him,I live for him

I am ambitious and a superwoman

I understand life isn't always blossoms and roses

I say I will make it in life..I see my reflections,I hear him cry for me,I see his big brown eyes

I dream there will be no sorrow

I try to be a mother

I hope he doesn't rebel against me, I know he's courteous

I am ambitious and a superwoman

Final Review

What I enjoyed about the book A Piece of Cake was that this book was very real and I thought it was very interesting because Cupcake has soo much surreal things, like things that happen in the real world. Im usually not a big reader but ever since I came in to Lindsay I was very intrested in books, speacially Memoirs, like A Piece of Cake.I also enjoyed the fact that the book had very personal information,I never thought I could find a book that i could actually be so interested in.Last but not least I would recomend this book to any one in life who feels they need help and it could give them the courage to get the help that they need.

Responding to Cupcake's Memoir

2. Did this book change your life in any specific way, or perhaps, cause you to think differently about certain issues? If so, what and how?

I don't think this book changed my life in any specific way, I think it just made me realize how lucky I'm to have the life that I have,It did cause me to think differently about a couple of things such as hanging out with the wrong crowd at the wrong time, doing drugs, I mean we all have our ups and downs and our good and bad,but as I can see by reading this very interesting book is its all in your hands, you have the choice!Another thing i thought I had it bad in life, but as I see Cupcake's life how shes running up and down in her life with the drug use, abortions and getting raped was just another thing in life that I'm just very lucky that i have the most supporting people in my life and this work assignment has made me thank my mother in many sort of ways,Cupcake's life is so differently than mine and I appreciate so many things in life, and I'm so glad that I've met my wonderful teachers,I hope your reading this Dawn,I appreciate the hard work you do.

Piece of Cake discussion questions

Three possible discussion questions that we can use are:

1. Is cupcake's Memoir all true?

2.Can you relate to Cupcake in a positive or negative way?

E.Coli assignment

1.What is it?

E.Coli was an outbreak of foodborne , a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration.

2.Is it eubacteria or archaebacteria?

E. Coli is a eubacteria. Archaebateria is what you would normally find in extreme places such as undersea volcano vents, extremely acidic waters, and very salty seas (in the olden times, they were known to cause spoilage since eubacteria cannot survive these conditions). Eubacteria are the most abundant and the most common.

3.How can you get it?

You can get e.coli by eating roten food, not well cooked food.

4.What are the symptoms?

the symptoms are mostly gastrointestinal at first. Diarrhea, abdominal cramping to start, leading to severe bloody diarrhea, dehydration, fever, often nausea and vomiting. In the chronically ill and very old or very young, it is often fatal.

5.How is it diagnosed?

E. coli is usually confirmed by the detection of the bacteria in a stool specimen from an infected individual. Most hospital labs and physicians know to test for this particular bacteria, especially if the potentially infected individual has bloody diarrhea.

6.How is it treated?

Im not shure usually you have to go to your docter and get your stool tested and then see what goes on from there.

Characterization

Dot would be considered a subordinate character in this chapter because either way Cupcake said in her book that beeing the hustler she is,she sooner or later she'd find another way.A subordinate character means a less important character who he or she doesnt affect the plot.Dot was never a important character to Cupcake, she was more like a side dish to her.Dot is not important to the plot.

An example of a dynamic character would be a very important character in the book, which is her non-boilogical father who she calls "Daddy" I believe that he is a dynamic character because he changed a big role in the book, since in the begining from the book when Cupcake was a child

Cupcake's newest conflict

Cupcake's newest conflict is that shes living with her Daddy and three hos:Sam,Slim, and Wonda. She moved in with her dad and all they ever do is use drugs.I believe that the literary conflict for this chapter is person vs. society, because shes out there trying to change but the socitey and people she lives around with are a very bad influence.I think her current living situation will result as eather he getting a over dose or some one in her home dying and or just some thing real big is going to happen.I think Sam(her dads girlfriend) is hidding something from them.

Popular Seafood Dishes in Japan

Sashimi

Sashimi is one of the most popular sea food dishes in Japan,This dish refers to the raw seafood.Sashimi is an important element in Japanese cuisine, where it is often served at the beginning of a meal as a palate cleanser and appetizer. It is often compared to sushi, another popular Japanese dish, although the two are actually different. Sashimi is raw fish sliced very thin and served with a variety of garnishes and sauces. Sushi is served with rice, and often appears wrapped in specially treated seaweed known as nori.Variety of fresh sea foods are used for this dish such as :fresh fish, prawn, squid, or octopus and more, their usually served with soy sauce and wasabi or ground ginger, sashimi is traditionally served with wasabi (Japanese green horseradish) and a dipping of sauce of soy (with a little of the wasabi mixied in).
Popular Shashimis are:

Maguro:

Maguro (Mah-goo-roh) is the Japanese term for bluefin tuna,It is the best known and most commonly eaten fish in all of sushi dinning. Japanese are the ones who mosly get the bluefin tuna,The bluefin tuna is now one the most popular items in the sushi menu.

Toro of Fatt
y Tuna:

Toro is only taken from bluefin tuna, which are abundant in the waters of the East Coast,A small bluefin fish is the size of
a baby elephant.Bluefin fish are rearely ever commercial in the U.S. because they are just so hard to handle, they only come as for when they need it for pet food.Mostly its prefferable to be eaten in the winter because it tastes better and its at its best,it is a luxurious and tasty delicacy well worth its price. Out of season, however, it may not live up to its reputation or its price tag.
